Looking for an easy, simple and charming Easter craft? Easter Eggshell candles are a beautiful way to reuse leftover eggs while adding a soft, cosy glow to your Easter décor. With just a few basic supplies—empty eggshells, beeswax, and wicks—you can create delicate mini candles that look stunning on a spring table, tucked into egg cartons, or placed in decorative nests. This easy DIY project is perfect for beginners and makes a lovely Easter activity.

You can put these Easter eggshell candles on a wooden ring, on the easter table or near the easter tree.

Eggs:

When you are cooking with eggs, keep the best half-cracked eggs, wash them and let them dry. When they are dry, you can cut the edges that are not right gently with your fingers. Don’t worry if there are slight imperfections.

Materials:

A jar with beeswax pellets, a candle wick, half eggshells, and hair grips.
  • Half egg shells washed and dried.
  • Beeswax, about 50 grams for 6 candles.
  • Cotton wick.
  • Hair grip or similar.
  • An egg box (optional)

Why Beeswax?

Block of beeswax, and beeswax pellets.

Beeswax is a completely natural wax produced by bees. The smell is lovely, and the flame is warmer than other wax candles. They burn very cleanly, burn more slowly, and last longer than candles made from paraffin or soy.

And is it a more sustainable choice compared to petroleum-based waxes.

I prefer beeswax, but you can use any wax you have, such as natural soy wax.

How to make the eggshell candles:

A jar with melting beeswax in a pan with simmering water.

First, melt beeswax in an old tin or glass jar in a pan over simmering water.

While you wait, prepare the egg shells.

Cut about 3 cm of string, and using a hair grip, put one end of the wick until it touches the bottom of the eggshell, and hold the other end of the wick with the hair grip across the eggshell.

If you have an empty egg box, place the shells in it; it will make it easier to hold the eggshells when you pour the beeswax into them.

Once the wax is completely melted, pour the wax into each shell. Make sure the string stays straight and in place.
